HUTCHENREUTHER PORCELAIN FACTORY

     Hutschenreuther is one of the most popular and well-known brands for the production of porcelain products, including figurines. The beginning of the story takes us to a factory in Wallendorf, where Karl Mongoose Hutchenreuther (1794 - 1845) worked as a porcelain painter. After a while, in 1814, he moved to the city of Hohenberg, where he founded his manufactory.

     At first, his factory was engaged in painting ready-made porcelain due to the restrictions of the state monopoly, which forbade small firms to produce porcelain, so as not to compete with state-owned factories. Many years later, Karl was allowed to produce his own porcelain products, and his company began to grow very quickly and gained recognition throughout Western Europe. After the death of Karl, his sons continued his business.  

     One of Karl's sons, Lorenz Hutchenreuther, founded his own production in the Bavarian city of Selb in 1857. At first, only simple consumer porcelain was produced. Since 1902, production has passed into the status of a joint-stock company. In 1906, the factory of Jager and Werner was bought, and in 1917, the factory of P. Müller. Ten years later, in 1927, the factories in Tirschenreuth and the Bauscher brothers in Weiden. At the same time, the factory founded by his father also became a joint-stock company and absorbed the factory in Altrohlau in 1909, in 1918 the factory of K. Auver in Arzburg. In 1969, the factories merged and the Hutschenreuther AG brand was born, which still exists today, but has been owned by the Rosenthal corporation since 2000 .
